Hailing from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the coronavirus pandemic has registered 292,991 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to more than 27.8 million infected people and more than 900,000 deaths this Wednesday from Johns Hopkins University across the 188 affected countries and territories .
A total of 27,871,271 people have contracted the virus, more than half of whom live in the three hardest hit countries – the US, India and Brazil – while 903,756 have already died.
In terms of recovery, more than 18.78 million people have already managed to overcome COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus. Brazil tops the list with just over 3.61 million patients cured, followed by India with more than 3.47 million and the United States with more than 2.38 million.
The United States remains the world’s most affected country by the pandemic, with 6.36 million infected and 190,872 deaths, after adding more than 34,000 new cases since the last equilibrium.
