The coronavirus pandemic triggered in the Chinese city of Wuhan has registered 230,699 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to more than 27 million infected people and more than 883,000 deaths from Johns Hopkins University across the 188 affected countries and territories.
A total of 27,114,051 people became infected with the virus, more than half of whom live in the three hardest hit countries – the US, Brazil and India – while 883,529 have already died.
In terms of recovery, more than 18.13 million people have already managed to overcome COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. Brazil tops the list with just over 3.52 million cured patients, followed by India with more than 3.25 million and the United States with just over 2.31 million.
The United States remains the most pandemic-hit country in the world, with 6.27 million infected and 188,941 deaths, having added 31,395 new cases since the last balance, the lowest daily figure since June 22.
