Hailing from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the coronavirus pandemic has registered 304,626 new cases in the past 24 hours. This is the new daily record, resulting in a total of more than 26.62 million infected people and more than 874,000 deaths, according to the balance offered by Johns Hopkins University this Saturday for the 188 countries and territories affected.
A total of 26,622,706 people have contracted the virus, more than half of whom are in the three hardest hit countries – the US, Brazil and India – while there are already 874,708 deaths.
In terms of recovery, more than 17.72 million people have already managed to overcome COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. Brazil tops the list with just over 3.46 million patients cured, followed by India with more than 3.1 million and the United States with just over 2.28 million.
The United States remains the country hardest hit by the pandemic in the world, with 6.2 million infected and 187,765 deaths, after more than 50,000 new cases have been added since the last equilibrium.
