Hailing from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the coronavirus pandemic has registered almost 380,500 new cases in the past 24 hours. This is the new daily record for the entire historic series, affecting more than 29.5 million infected people in total and topping 935,000 deaths, according to the record released by Johns Hopkins University this Wednesday.
In total, 29,584,330 people have contracted the virus, more than half of whom live in the three hardest hit countries – the US, India and Brazil – while there are already 935,228 deaths.
In terms of recovery, more than 20 million people have already managed to overcome COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus. India tops the list with more than 3.94 million patients cured, followed by Brazil with more than 3.81 million and the United States with more than 2.49 million.
The United States remains the world’s hardest hit country by the pandemic, with 6.6 million infected and 195,542 fatalities after adding more than 52,000 new cases from the previous balance.
