Hailing from the Chinese city of Wuhan, the coronavirus pandemic has registered more than 315,000 cases in the past 24 hours, with India being the main culprit behind the surge, where the total number of infections is already 28.5 million, according to a balance sheet published this Friday by the Johns Hopkins University on the 188 countries and territories affected.
A total of 28,493,074 people became infected with the virus, more than half of whom are in the three hardest hit countries – the US, India and Brazil – while 915,393 have already died.
In terms of recovery, it exceeded 19 million on the last day, with 19.21 million patients recovering. Brazil tops the list with just over 3.69 million patients cured, followed by India with more than 3.62 million and the United States with more than 2.41 million.
The United States remains the world’s hardest hit country by the pandemic, with 6.44 million infected and 193,013 fatalities.
