The coronavirus pandemic has already left more than 150 million cases worldwide due to a sharp increase in infections caused by the situation in India. According to the Johns Hopkins University, more than 300,000 cases have been reported daily for nine consecutive days.
The agency has also stated that to date 3,165,978 people have died, including about 11,500 in the last day, while 87,570,816 have recovered from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.
The United States remains the hardest hit country with around 32.3 million cases and more than 575,000 deaths. Behind is India with more than 18.7 million cases and about 208,000 deaths and Brazil with more than 14.5 million infections and more than 401,000 deaths.
Mexico is the third country in terms of the number of deaths with more than 216,000 deaths, although it ranks 15th in the world in terms of the number of infections.
France is the only country that currently has between five and six million cases, while Turkey, Russia and the United Kingdom have more than four million cases. Likewise, Italy, Spain and Germany have confirmed between three and four million.
In the range between two and three million are Argentina, Colombia, Poland, Iran, Mexico and Ukraine, and between one and two million infections are in Peru, Indonesia, the Czech Republic, South Africa, the Netherlands, Canada, Chile, Iraq , Romania and the Philippines.
The Philippines, Belgium, Sweden, Israel, Portugal, Pakistan, Hungary, Bangladesh, Jordan, Serbia, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Morocco have between half a million and a million cases.
Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Bulgaria have confirmed between 400,000 and 500,000 infections while Slovakia, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Panama, Belarus, Greece, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Nepal, Georgia, Tunisia and Bolivia have recorded between 300,000 and 400,000 cases.
In the range between 200,000 and 300,000 cases are the occupied Palestinian territories, Paraguay, Kuwait, the Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Denmark, Moldova, Costa Rica, Ireland, Lithuania, Slovenia, Egypt, Guatemala, Armenia, Honduras and Qatar.
Finally, in the group between 100,000 and 200,000 infections are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Venezuela, Uruguay, Oman, Libya, Bahrain, Nigeria, Kenya, North Macedonia, Burma, Albania, South Korea, Algeria, Estonia, Latvia, Norway, Sri Lanka. Cuba, Kosovo and China.
China, the country where the pandemic started, has 102,474 infected and 4,845 deaths, according to the university’s record.
