The coronavirus pandemic has caused more than 271,000 cases worldwide in the past 24 hours, which, according to Johns Hopkins University, have already infected more than 28.7 million people with more than 920,000 deaths in the 188 countries and territories affected.
The United States tops the list of countries with the most recorded cases to date at 6,486,114, followed by India (4,754,356), Brazil (4,315,687) and Russia (1,053,663). Behind is Peru with 716,670; Colombia with 708,964; Mexico with 663,973 and South Africa with 648,214.
In this way, Spain is the ninth country with the most confirmed infections since the pandemic started at 566,214, while Argentina ranks tenth with 546,481. They are followed by Chile with 432,666; France with 402,811; Iran with 399,940; and the UK at 367,592.
In terms of the number of deaths, the United States also tops the list of victims with 193,701 deaths. Brazil is behind with 131,210; India with 78,586; Mexico with 70,604; United Kingdom with 41,712; Italy with 35,603; France with 30,902; and Peru with 30,470.
