The coronavirus pandemic exceeds 17.6 million infections and has nearly 680,000 deaths worldwide

The coronavirus pandemic has already hit 17.6 million people, including some 680,000 deaths, in 188 countries around the world, with the United States, Brazil and India the most affected, according to Johns University, Hopkins.

As of August 1, the worldwide balance of COVID-19 was 17,600,740 infected, including 679,600 deceased, compared to 17.3 million positives and 673,000 deaths on Friday.

The United States remains the country most affected by the virus, with 4,562,171 cases and 153,314 deaths, followed by Brazil with 2,662,485 infected and 92,475 deaths and India with 1,695,988 infections and 36,511 deaths.

The “Top Ten” are completed by Russia, which registered 843,890 positive and 14,034 deaths. South Africa with 493,183 and 8,005; Mexico (424,637 and 46,688); Peru (407,492 and 19,021); Chile (355,667 and 9,457); United Kingdom (304,800 and 46,204) and Iran (304,204 and 16,766).
