The number of infections caused by COVID-19 worldwide has surpassed the 22 million mark in the past few hours after more than 265,000 new cases were recorded in Johns Hopkins University’s 188 affected countries and territories.
A total of 22,148,166 people were infected with the virus, which has already resulted in 781,135 deaths. In addition, more than 14.11 million people have managed to overcome the disease, with Brazil being the most recovered country with 2.75 million, followed by India with more than 2 million.
The United States remains the hardest hit country with more than 5.48 million positive results and tops the list of countries with the highest number of deaths with more than 171,823 countries.
Brazil ranks second with more than 3.4 million cases and more than 109,000 deaths in both the infected and the deceased. In third place is India with more than 2.76 million registered cases and nearly 53,000 deaths.
