Colombian Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo announced on Wednesday that an investigation would be launched to determine who was responsible for the murders of five young people between the ages of 14 and 16 that took place in the past few hours in a district of Cali in the southwest of the country.

“I have assigned a special investigation team with the unified action of the Cali Police and the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office to advance the investigation into the arrest of those responsible for this heinous crime,” he reported on Twitter

On Tuesday evening, the lifeless bodies of five youths who had stab wounds were found amid an extensive sugar cane field near the Cali neighborhood in Llano Verde, known for its population-induced drug trafficking and gang rivalries.
