The Chilean government and the country’s electoral service decided this Friday to hold the constitutional referendum scheduled for the next October 25 in a single day with an expanded schedule, despite the progress of the coronavirus and after it was proposed to hold the consultation on two different days. .
Interior Minister Juan Francisco Galli has confirmed that he will start working in March “under the security conditions and later due to the pandemic under the hygienic conditions to successfully carry out this referendum”.
Galli said that they had agreed that the conference, according to the newspaper “La Tercera”, “will take place on a day that extends the hours”, in order to ensure “good execution” of the referendum and to comply with hygiene measures.
Chilean electoral service president Patricio Santamaría has emphasized that they have focused on voter health security.
