This morning the Government of Mexico City announced that the CDMX will go to a yellow epidemiological light of 10th of May. Given the downward trend in infections across the country, many are wondering when we will give the green light across the country. The Undersecretary of State for Health, Hugo Lopez-Gatellruled out that this will happen for all of Mexico at the same time.

At a press conference Eduardo Clark, Director of Digital Government for the Digital Agency for Public Innovation in CDMX, said the decrease in this alert level for CDMX was due to the reduction in hospital occupancy for patients with CDMX COVID-19which, according to the High Level, is currently 16.5%.

Yet, Lopez-Gatell stated that the epidemic behaves differently in each entity, so A date cannot be estimated implement the green light across Mexico.

He figured that the best possible would be for more states to be gradually added to the minimum alert level.

“Today we have several units in green and if this trend continues we will have everything in green.”the official said, recalling that there had been 15 consecutive weeks of decrease in cases. “We see a very stable control behavior, which is not easy in densely populated countries.”added.

Lopez-Gatell stressed the importance of the population in maintaining the population Hygiene measures in order to Further reduce infections. He also emphasized that a record in the use of was broken this Wednesday Vaccines against Covid-19 in the country with more than 600 thousand cans.

“I also take this opportunity to tell you that we have had no supply problems (with vaccines).”said the official.

More than 13.3 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Given that Mexico has about 126 million people, according to the INEGI 2020 census, it means that about 10.4% of the population has been vaccinated.
