The Bulgarian prime minister refuses to resign despite anti-government protests

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borisov refused to resign on Wednesday despite massive protests against the country’s government, despite having asked three key ministers to resign.

Borisov has called for the resignation of Interior, Finance and Economics Ministers Mladen Marinov, Vladislav Goranov and Emirl Karanikolov after meeting with regional coordinators from his Party for Citizens for European Development in Bulgaria (GERB).

Ministers reported that ministers expressed their willingness to resign, announcing this on Thursday, according to the Bulgarian news agency BTA.

The meeting took place after a night in which thousands of people took to the streets of the capital Sofia for the sixth time in a row to demand Borisov’s resignation, protests that led to clashes with the police.
