The British Supreme Court will announce this Tuesday morning its ruling on the closure of Parliament

September 23, 2019

The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom has announced that this Tuesday at 10.30 (one more hour in peninsular Spain) will make public the sentence on the parliamentary suspension requested by the Government of Boris Johnson, after there have been contradictory rulings on this issue .

The court has informed that after the hearings held between September 17 and 19, the ruling will finally be known this Tuesday, September 24. The eleven magistrates will determine whether the closure of Parliament until October 14, two weeks before Brexit, is legal or not.

Johnson has attributed this paralysis to the need to expose a new legislative agenda, but the opposition considers that it wants to obstruct parliamentary activity to speed up deadlines and try to get the United Kingdom out of the EU at all costs, with or without agreement .

Among the possible judgments that are considered are decisions in favor and against the Government, but also intermediate positions such as considering that it is a more political than judicial debate. The Johnson Executive has promised to abide by the ruling whatever, although through lawyers he has also dropped that he could seek some subterfuge if the text is ambiguous.
