The Brazilian federal police are investigating Bolsonaro’s allies for spreading false news

The Brazilian federal police launched a search and capture operation for 29 people this Wednesday, including several allies of the country’s president, Jair Bolsonaro, for spreading false news.

“The federal police are following the court orders today Wednesday morning as part of investigative instruction 4,781 at the Federal Court of Justice (STF),” the security authority reported in a short statement.

These are 29 arrest warrants issued by Judge Alexandre de Moraes that extend across the federal district of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina, and Paraná.

Case 4,781 relates to an investigation launched by the STF in March last year for “false news, crimes, and threats that affect the reputation and security of the court, its members, and their families”.
