Inner beauty is more or just as important as outer beauty. Proof of this is Bhasha Mukherjee, the beauty queen who abandoned her crown to work as a doctor and fight the pandemic that the world is suffering.
In December 2019, Bhasha was chosen as Miss World representing the United Kingdom. However, after “enjoying” her reign for a few months, she decided to return to her native country and help the health system.
Bhasha Mukherjee is a specialist in respiratory medicine. So she put her medical career on hold to participate in the pageant. The title required him to make several trips around the world to make humanitarian efforts.
“I was invited to Africa, Turkey, then India, Pakistan and various Asian countries to be an ambassador for various charity work,” she told CNN .
In March, the doctor visited India on behalf of the Coventry Mercia Lions Club charity. She lived in schools and homes for abandoned girls, where they donated stationery and money.
“When you do this humanitarian work abroad, everyone expects you to put on your crown, get ready, and look pretty. I wanted to go home and help. I wanted to go back and go directly to work. I have the feeling that I got this title for a reason and what better time to be part of this than now, ”he continued.
According to the English newspaper, The Independent , the beauty queen left all her activities to return to her work at the National Health Service to fight the disease.
She confessed that she felt a certain emotional charge as she strutted around like Miss, still doing altruistic work. “There is no better time for me to be Miss England and help my country in a time of need,” said Bhasha.
She will have to isolate herself for two weeks before returning to work at Pilgrim Hospital, where she will collaborate where necessary to combat the coronavirus .
