The Chief of the General Staff of the Colombian Army, General Luis Fernando Navarro, has announced the start of an offensive to stop the recent massacres in the country.
“Following recent events by the prosecution, police and armed forces, they are already being resolved and those responsible for these events are being found,” said General Navarro.
The last of these murders attributed to drug trafficking groups took place on Friday. Three young men, including a minor, were murdered on a farm in the rural area of the Colombian department of Antioquia in the north-west of the country.
In an interview with Radio Caracol, the general added that the capacities of public violence “are used to combat the criminal actors who generate violence in the country”.
