The Bolivian government minister, Arturo Murillo, has accused former President Evo Morales’ movement towards socialism (MAS) of “arming young people to shake the country”.
In a series of statements from Washington, Murillo has indicated that there are a number of intelligence reports showing that the leaders of the MAS are trying to convince mostly young people that the army is preparing an election fraud.
It was pointed out that on October 18, election day, the population would be asked to “rise” if MAS candidate Luis Arce fails to win, according to the US government newspaper ‘El Duty’.
The minister of Jeanine Áñez’s government has confirmed that the protests “are no longer stones or sticks, but firearms”. In this regard, he announced that he had met with the authorities of the Organization of American States (OAS) and members of the United States government in search of “cooperation”.
