Kuwaiti emir Saba al Ahmad al Jaber al Saba was hospitalized on Saturday for a medical exam, the official KUNA news agency reported.
Minister of Affairs of the Royal Court, Ali Al Jará, issued a brief statement confirming that the Emir “entered the hospital to undergo medical examinations”.
The 91-year-old Emir has controlled this oil-rich Gulf country since 2006. Last year, he was transferred to a US hospital during a trip.
Although Kuwait has one of the most active parliaments in the Arab world, the emir retains most of the power, including the right to appoint the government.
