The second most active blockchain, Telos, announced partnerships with three game companies on April 28 that provide blockchain capabilities for games on the Unity and Steam platforms.
Through Telos’ partnership with Blockbastards, the network will host the company’s next Qudo platformIn addition to technical and marketing support.
Qudo is a token-based proof-of-game reward mechanism that can be integrated into any game created with the Unity platform. Users can be rewarded for achieving specific goals or collecting game hours.
According to Unity, more than 3.3 billion devices ran games created on the platform last year, so Qudo could see a large audience exposed to cryptocurrency rewards.
The platform allows developers to focus on the gaming experience and add cryptocurrency rewards without the need for blockchain experience. According to the managing director of Blockbastards, João Abrantes:
“In traditional games, we’ve found that in-game credit systems tend to generate the most money, and we can now offer the same chain experience with Qudo, which runs on the Telos network.”
Farm Game and Area X add a competitive element
The other two partnerships announced by Telos are with Farm Game and Area X.
The Farm Game platform allows betting on games like Counter Strike, DOTA 2 and others on the Steam service. Sponsors can also create online competition games by offering telos tokens (TLOS) as prizes.
As of 2019, the Steam platform supported over 34,000 games and over 95 million monthly active users.
Area X is a social network of free HTML 5 games that is based on the Telos blockchain and awards prizes for TLOS and other tokens. Area X also hosts tournaments where players pay a small entry fee to win more tokens.
Suvi Rinkinen, CEO of the Telos Foundation, expressed the company’s desire to support blockchain-based game development and said: “There are many benefits to integrating blockchain technology into games. We look forward to working with Qudo, Area X. and Farm. game to make sure Telos helps them maximize their performance. “
However, Telos does not focus exclusively on games. As Cointelegraph reported, the company recently partnered with Genobank to launch an app that allows users to access anonymous COVID-19 tests.
