Syria’s air defense systems blocked a missile attack against Aleppo on Friday, which the army attributed to Israel, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported.
According to SANA, citing a military source, the airstrike took place with “a missile eruption” at 01:30 am (local time). The air defense systems blocked “most” of the missiles, added the source, who did not provide details on the events.
For its part, Israel has not confirmed whether it was behind the attack. Israel has conducted air operations against the Arab country, arguing that it is preventing Iran from setting up Iranian bases in Syria and supplying arms to the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah, which also supports the government of Bashar al Assad.
