According to Thursday’s health authorities, more than 3,000 people have died from the coronavirus in Sweden since the pandemic began, confirming another 99 deaths in a single day.
The Swedish Ministry of Health, which has stated that the total number is 3,040 dead, has indicated that most deaths have occurred in nursing homes and warns that the contagion curve remains high at 24,623 cases.
“Mask protection is not a solution, it’s an aid,” said a senior official from the Department of Antibiotics and Hygiene at the ministry, according to the local newspaper ‘Aftonbladet’.
Therefore, the authorities have warned that there are an average of about 70 deaths per day, which is a high number. The Stockholm region is severely affected by the virus and is one of the main sources of infection.
According to health authorities, a third of Stockholm’s coronavirus is expected to be infected by next week, as data is currently being collected.
