Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee shop chain, now enables its customers to track the origin of their coffee using the blockchain solution from Microsoft. Customers can scan the codes on the coffee bags they have purchased to determine the origin of the beans. Little information was provided about the tracking solution other than the fact that it uses blockchain technology. Microsoft is a leading provider of “blockchain-as-a-service” platforms, although IBM’s Food Trust platform is the most popular in the field.
