South Korea reported on Thursday that it has registered 79 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest number in 53 days that it attributed to an outbreak of infection in a logistics center in the city of Bucheon.

According to the South Korean Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 68 of the new cases are being localized, and the worldwide number of coronavirus cases in South Korea has increased to 11,344, the Yonhap news agency reported.

In this context, the South Korean health authorities fear that other cases could arise in connection with the logistics center in question, since COVID-19 diagnostic tests are currently being carried out on around 4,000 employees. So far, 3,500 workers have been examined.
