The South African government has confirmed that the country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic across the continent has passed half a million infections this Saturday.
The total number of confirmed infections is 503,290, which is a total of 8,153 deaths since the pandemic was declared. This emerges from the balance published by South African Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize on his Twitter account.
According to the balance sheet, the total number of people recovered is 342,461.
Hours before the release of this balance, Africa passed a total of 900,000 coronavirus infections and continues to show a trend of 100,000 new cases per week.
So there is evidence of a total of 927,661 infections and 19,650 deaths on the continent. This is reflected in the balance sheet that the disease control centers in Africa have updated until Saturday. On a positive note, a total of 580,399 people have recovered from the disease.
