At least a dozen people have died and 46 others have been missing on the Indonesian island of Celebes due to the heavy flooding caused by the rain in recent days.
The Indonesian Civil Protection Agency (BNPB), which has reported that ten other people have been rescued and transferred to the Masamba Regional Hospital, said in a statement that thousands of homes have been affected by the landslides, particularly in the North Luwu District.
As discussed earlier, access to some areas of the district has been severely restricted because the main streets are covered with mud.
In Northern Luwu, the Rongkang, Sungai Rada and Masamba rivers have overflowed and caused severe flooding, affecting almost 5,000 families. In addition, the agency has warned that more than 23,000 people are at risk from flash floods in the region.
