Several journalists were arrested this Friday during protests against the Chilean government and the management of the epidemic in the country. The Carabineros reported a total of 28 prisoners.
“Alarm of the arrest of the communicator Gianco Raglianti from Prensa Opal. We demand that Carabineros and the prosecutor’s office release him immediately. The colleague was in professional practice, which for no reason reacts to a” public disturbance “. #LibertadDePrensa #Chile”, has published by the Colegio de Periodistas de Chile via Twitter.
Members of the special security forces arrested arbitrarily and those arrested were forced into police cars, Chilean media said. The public prosecutor’s office legalized the arrests.
Press Opal has denounced that this arrest is in violation of international agreements. “Due to the concentration of more than 100 people in Plaza Baquedano, people from the prefecture for public order control arrested 20 people for disturbances,” Carabineros reported on her Twitter account.
The protesters were attacked by the security forces with trucks with water cannons to disperse the demonstration. The protesters had not returned to this central square in Santiago de Chile since the coronavirus silenced social protests in March.
