MADRID, 11 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Several fires recorded in Riverside County, in the US state of California, have destroyed homes and caused power outages, according to the US network CNN.
The largest of the three fires is in the city of Calimesa and has been contained in approximately 10 percent, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The fire has greatly affected a mobile home park and destroyed 74 structures.
Captain Fernando Herrera, of the California Fire Department, has said the fire has started when the load of a garbage truck caught fire and spread to the vegetation.
“Due to the Santa Ana wind, the fire got out of control. It started burning vegetation in the blink of an eye,” he said.
The Fire Department has warned that “several structures have been destroyed and numerous medical emergencies have been treated.” Herrera has detailed that 120 firefighters have been assigned to work in the work of extinction.
The fires have occurred when California's largest utility company, Pacific Gas Electric (PGE), has cut power supplies in some areas of 22 counties in the north of the state, in an effort to prevent forest fires.
