The prime minister of the Libyan unity government, Fayez Serraj, has appointed Salah Al Namroush as defense minister, previously deputy minister of the same portfolio, and Mohamed Al Haddad as chief of staff.
Serraj announced his decision on social networks after meeting with the members of the Presidential Council, who also decided to set up a committee to review the Ministry of Health’s spending between 2019 and 2020.
In the same way, they have agreed to set up another committee for job creation in the country, aimed mainly at the younger population, in order to relieve the economy, according to information from “The Libya Observer”.
On Friday, the President announced the suspension of the functions of Interior Minister Fazi Bashagha after protests against corruption took place in the capital Tripoli.
The institutional duplication in Libya goes back to the 2014 parliamentary elections, in which the administrations without the East-based government – led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar – and the unity government, which emerged from an agreement in 2015, were divided and recognized internationally them since then to agree on their union.
