Sea Watch reports that 27 migrants rescued at sea have been on board an oil tanker off Malta for three weeks

The German NGO Sea Watch denounced this Thursday that 27 migrants rescued in the Mediterranean have been on board an oil tanker off the coast of Malta for more than three weeks.

In a statement, the organization said that the Danish flag ship ‘Maersk Etienne’ rescued migrants on August 4th after receiving a warning from Sea Watch.

The company that owns the oil tanker has confirmed this information in statements to the DPA news agency: “The ‘Etienne’ has 27 migrants on board, including a child and a pregnant woman.”

He has explained in detail that since the beginning of August the ship’s crew “has given food, water and blankets to the migrants whom they have offered as much help as possible”.
