The Saudi government has already suspended pilgrimages for ‘umrah’, the smaller pilgrimage to Mecca that can be carried out for citizens and residents of the country at any time of the year.
To date, Saudi Arabia has confirmed more than 161,000 coronavirus cases, including more than 1,300 deaths.
