April 27, 2020

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced an announced decree that will end executions of minors accused of crimes and replace them with prison terms of up to ten years in prison.

The Saudi Human Rights Commission (HRCS) released a statement on Sunday welcoming the decision by the Kingdom authorities as the decree “contributes to the modernization of the code” Criminal Law “of Saudi Arabia.

This decision was made days after the decision of the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia to remove punishment for flogging from the judicial system, prison terms, fines, or a combination of both.
