A bus carrying 20 people on board was seized by a gunman in downtown Lutsk, western Ukraine, on Tuesday, according to the Volyn Region Police Department.
“At 102 am this morning, news arrived that a man with about 20 hostages took a bus carrying explosives and weapons in the center of Lutsk,” said the police. As a result of the kidnapping, security forces blocked access to the city center and deployed reinforcements.
Local news agency Unian reported that shots were heard in the area where the hijacked bus is located and that the vehicle has several broken windows. According to this report, the person responsible for the kidnapping has expressed dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian “system” and shot at the agents of the security forces from the minibus.
