Russia releases the first batch of its coronavirus vaccine

The Russian Ministry of Health has put into circulation the first batch of the COVID-19 vaccine developed in the country, which was christened Sputnik V after completing the required quality tests.

“The first batch of the Sputnik V vaccine passed the required quality tests by the laboratories of the Federal Monitoring Service in the health sector and was put into public transport,” said the Sputnik news agency in a statement by the Russian Ministry of Health.

On the same Monday, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced that the Russian vaccine against the coronavirus will be given to the first volunteers this week as part of the third phase of clinical trials after registration.

The Russian National Office for Consumer Protection (Rospotrebnadzor) has reported that the clinical trials conducted by the Vector Virology and Biotechnology Center with the Russian vaccine will be completed on September 30th.
