Russia stayed very close to 947,000 COVID-19 cases this Friday after adding more than 4,800 positives on the previous day. This emerges from the data from the operation center against the spread of the new coronavirus, which is the fourth most common in this country and affected worldwide.
In the last 24 hours, 4,870 new cases were confirmed, including 1,292 asymptomatic, which, according to the agency, corresponds to 26.5 percent of the total.
So far, Russia has confirmed 946,976 infections nationwide, with Moscow and its environs being the hardest hit area. In fact, most of the new positive results were found in the capital (690), Saint Petersburg (181) and Moscow province (151).
On the flip side, there were 90 deaths in the final day, bringing the balance of deaths to 16,189 while more than 761,300 patients have overcome the disease, including an additional 5,817 discharged in the past few hours.
The national office for consumer protection, Rospotrebnadzor, has indicated that Russia has so far carried out more than 33.8 million tests, including 304,000 on the last day, according to the Russian agency Sputnik.
