Russia’s health authorities reported 18,233 new infections and 811 deaths from the coronavirus this Sunday, with a decrease in daily cases and deaths compared to the previous day and amid a downward trend in recent days.
With these figures collected by the Russian news agency Sputnik, Russia’s global number has risen to 10.5 million infections and 310,518 deaths since the pandemic began.
The capital of Russia, Moscow, has the most new infections with 1,824, followed by Saint Petersburg with 1,468 and the province of Moscow with 1,364.
Meanwhile, more than 9.4 million people in Russia have managed to overcome the disease, around 33,000 in the last few hours.
By December 24, the Russian health authorities had completed more than 73 million vaccination cycles – including the third vaccination. The authorities estimate herd immunity to be around 60.4 percent.
