Russia’s Deputy Secretary of State, Sergei Riabkov, has urged the United States and Iran to exercise caution in their statements after the threats over Persian Gulf tensions have been exceeded in recent weeks.
The US Navy reported last week that some of its ships had repeatedly suffered “dangerous and harassing” approaches in the Persian Gulf, despite the fact that the Revolutionary Guard called Washington’s version of the “Hollywood film”.
On April 22, U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. Navy to attack Iranian ships if they attempted to harass American ships. The following day, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned that it would respond to gunfire to military or civilian ships.
“We urge the parties to hold back because the possibility of an outbreak of conflict is enormous,” Riabkov told the official Russian news agency Sputnik.
