Russia increases the number of COVID-19 cases to more than 707,000 after approximately 6,500 have been registered

The Russian authorities have registered 6,509 new cases of COVID-19 since Wednesday, bringing the preliminary infection balance in Russia to 707,301. It is the fourth highest number in the world after the United States, Brazil and India.

The center that coordinates the fight against the corona virus has localized most new infections in Moscow (568) and Saint Petersburg (292). The capital, which the restriction was decided on at the end of March, is the epicenter of the pandemic in Russia.

According to the Sputnik news agency, the authorities registered 176 deaths within 24 hours that were attributed to COVID-19, a total of 10,843 since the pandemic started. More than 481,000 people have overcome the disease in Russia.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskow are among the people who caught it in Russia. The government made sure that the president, Vladimir Putin, is tested every few days and that he takes preventive measures.
