The coronavirus pandemic in Russia, the fourth country in the world hardest hit by COVID-19, has already left more than 907,000 cases and around 15,400 deaths this Thursday, according to Russian authorities.
“In the past 24 hours in Russia, 5,057 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in 83 regions,” reported the center, which was devoted to monitoring the pandemic in the country, for a total of 907,758 infected people.
During the same period, other “124 fatal cases” were counted, bringing the death toll to 15,384, “said the Russian center, quoted by the Sputnik news agency.
On a positive note, 6,098 coronavirus patients were medically discharged last day, bringing the number of people who managed to overcome the disease to 716,396.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this week that the country has registered a vaccine against COVID-19 – Sputnik V – that is given in two doses and guarantees two-year immunity. Russia estimates it could produce around 500 million cans a year and hopes to start production in the fall.
