The Russian government announced this Friday the expulsion of a Norwegian diplomat accepted in retaliation for a gesture of “enmity” by the Oslo authorities earlier this month ordering a member of the Russian legation to leave the country there, of course, for espionage.
The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Norwegian Ambassador Rune Resaland this Friday to personally inform him of the decision that one of his diplomats has been declared a persona “non grata” and that he should leave the country in three days, the period the Norwegians have for the departure of our employee. “
Russia has also denied the espionage allegations made against its own diplomat, who left Norway three weeks ago after a Norwegian national sold classified information from the company DNV GL, for which he worked for Gas and Oil Search.
Instead, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denounced the “destructive line taken by the Norwegian authorities, which has inevitably affected the atmosphere of bilateral relations”.
Russia has also accused Norway of “being solely responsible for the consequences of such a policy”.
