The new coronavirus pandemic, which has its origins in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has registered more than 8,000 infections and 135 deaths in the past 24 hours. The Russian pandemic-fighting center has reported.
“135 people have died in the last 24 hours … There are a total of 2,972 deaths,” the Russian body said in a statement from the Sputnik news agency. In the past 24 hours, Russia has registered 8,764 coronavirus infections in 84 regions, including 4,021 asymptomatic cases.
With this new data, the balance amounts to 308,705 infected people, which corresponds to an increase of 2.9 percent compared to the previous day. In Moscow, 2,699 new cases were discovered on the last day, which means that 152,306 people with coronavirus already live in the Russian capital, 49.3 percent of the total number of cases across the country.
The Russian center has reported that 85,392 people have recovered from coronavirus infection, including 9,262 who have been discharged in the last 24 hours. The pandemic infects 4.9 million people and 323,000 deaths worldwide.
The Russian National Consumer Protection Agency (Rospotrebnadzor) has determined that the authorities have carried out more than 7.5 million tests to detect the coronavirus and reports that 273,000 people are “under medical supervision”. Russia has completed 225,000 coronavirus tests in the last 24 hours.
