The pandemic of the new coronavirus from the Chinese city of Wuhan has left more than 10,000 cases in Russia in the past 24 hours, increasing the balance to more than 262,000 infected and more than 2,400 deaths.
“Over the past 24 hours, 10,598 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in 85 regions of the country, including 4,504 asymptomatic,” the Russian coronavirus control center said in a statement collected by the Sputnik news agency.
With the new data, the balance is 262,843 infected. Most new infections were found in the city of Moscow, with 4,748 cases in the last 24 hours. The Russian National Consumer Protection Agency (Rospotrebnadzor) has found that the authorities have carried out more than 6.4 million tests to detect the corona virus. “More than 6.4 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Russia. Around 256,000 people are still under medical surveillance,” the agency said in a statement that found 225,000 tests had been performed in the past 24 hours.
Russia has seen daily growth of more than 10,000 positives since May 3, causing it to accumulate more than 100,000 infected within ten days, and again exceeded the 10,000 positives per day mark this Friday. Thursday was the first day that Russia recorded fewer than 10,000 cases in 24 hours since May 2. 9,623 positive cases were registered on this day.
