Russia continues its downward trend in coronavirus infections and is already below 20,000 daily cases

Russian health officials this Saturday reported a new drop in their daily cases and deaths from COVID-19, 19,751 and 847 respectively, compared to 20,000 cases and 912 deaths the previous day.

With these figures collected by the Russian news agency Sputnik, Russia’s global number has risen to 10.5 million infections and 309,707 deaths since the pandemic began.

The capital of Russia, Moscow, has the most new infections with 2,472, followed by Saint Petersburg with 1,534 and the Moscow province with 1,271.

Now in Russia, more than 9.4 million people have managed to overcome the disease, about 33,000 in the last 24 hours.

By December 24, the Russian health authorities had completed more than 73 million vaccination cycles – including the third vaccination. The authorities estimate herd immunity to be around 60.4 percent.
