The crypto data aggregator, Messari, believes roll-ups will overtake Layer-One solutions in the race to scale Ethereum.
Although the creation of Eth2’s bacon chain was successful on December 1st, Analysts predict that updates to the Ethereum 2.0 revision won’t be completed until 2022. As such a Messari he claimed recently waiting for Eth2 to complete “Allows other competitors with low fees and low latency to lose the Ethereum monopoly.”.
“Those affected by the rate hike will inevitably look to alternative platforms with better transaction performance and lower fees if they haven’t already.”
Despite Praise Near, Cosmos, and Solana’s efforts to build interoperable bridges with Ethereumas well as steps to develop scalable chains compatible with Polkadot and Avalanche’s Ethereum virtual machine, Messari predicts that the second tier roll-up solution will outperform first tier networks as the interim scaling solution of choice for the crypto community.
Messari describes the Roll ups as “New blockchain networks that process transactions independently of Ethereum” before sending the transactions to the main chain in batches. In contrast to Layer-One solutions, Messari It says that roll-ups can correspond to computing processes “without clogging the underlying network with excess data and computer requirements”.
They also state from the company that A strong Ethereum community will keep developers from wandering elsewhere, tweet::
“While Ethereum’s competitors will offer similar technical advantages, Ethereum’s strong community will continue to be the biggest obstacle.”
Although it will take a few more months for the roll-ups to be “ready for production”, Messari notes that a “flourishing ecosystem” has already formed around various roll-up projects.including the development of protocols for optimism, Offchain Labs Y. Material laboratoriesand plans for early implementations of Synthetix Y. Uniswap.
Combined with the consensus fragmentation and evidence of commitment, Messari predicts this Roll-ups could allow the Ethereum network to process up to 100,000 Transactions per secondan increase in transaction performance by more than 10,000 times:
“If rollup packages work, Ethereum should be able to maintain its virtual monopoly on DeFi applications while Eth2 remains in the incubation phase.”
