Instead, Rohani has reproached the other signatories of the pact that they have not fulfilled their obligations after the unilateral withdrawal from the United States in 2018, as they should have compensated Tehran for the damages of US sanctions, public television reports. Iranian Press TV.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran remains willing to interact and cooperate with the European Union to resolve issues and as soon as the other party fulfills its commitments, Iran will also fulfill its obligations again,” Rohani explained.

Thus, Rohani has denounced the “numerous obstacles and problems” generated by the US decision to withdraw from the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan (PIAC), as the nuclear agreement is formally known.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran maintains its collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency and its inspections, which will continue until there is a new situation,” he explained. This is Borrell's first trip to Iran as 'number two' of the European Commission and head of community diplomacy.

Borrell, meanwhile, has called for “more efforts” to “overcome the obstacles” faced by the nuclear agreement and its implementation and has pledged to make “the greatest effort” to develop a strong relationship with Iran to preserve the PIAC, Iranian media reports. At the moment the Borrell press office has not its version of the meeting.

On the other hand, Rohani has stressed the importance of concerting efforts between Iran and the EU to resolve regional and international conflicts. In addition, it has condemned the position of the United States and its “strategic errors” with respect to Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria or Afghanistan.

In particular, he referred to the 'agreement of the century', the proposed Washington peace plan for Israel and Palestine. Rohani has denounced that this plan elaborated together with the “Israel regime” is “another mistake” that is “doomed to failure.”

Borrell has also met again with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamad Yavad Zarif, with whom he has also addressed nuclear contention and regional tension. In particular they have exchanged their views on the mechanism designed by the EU to facilitate Iranian trade (INSTEX). Both diplomats have also addressed the new American peace plan, the 'agreement of the century'.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Musavi had highlighted how “important” Borrell's visit to Tehran is and stressed that Iran takes this diplomatic initiative “very seriously.”

The 2015 nuclear pact establishes the withdrawal of sanctions against the Islamic Republic in exchange for a reduction in the atomic program of the Ayatollah regime. Iran has affected the rest of the signatories of the nuclear agreement that have not done enough since the United States withdrew from the pact to allow legitimate trade with Iran and maintain its crude oil exports.

Finally, and after five “phases” of disconnection, Iran announced its intention not to limit the level of uranium enrichment. In response, Germany, France and the United Kingdom – the three European signatories of the PIAC – activated the dispute resolution mechanism contemplated in the nuclear agreement.
