MADRID, Jan. 13 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of Iran, Hasán Rohani, has promulgated the law that includes in the list of terrorist organizations the United States Department of Defense and all related entities, approved last week by the Iranian Parliament following the bombing of General Qassem Soleimani.
The law was initially approved in April 2019 and the Parliament, by a large majority, agreed last Tuesday to extend it to also add to the Pentagon in retaliation for the death of Soleimani, former head of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guard.
Rohani has stamped his signature on the new text on Tuesday, according to the state-run Press TV, which recalled the “mandatory” fulfillment of the reform for all the institutions of the Islamic Republic.
Apart from the policy, the Iranian authorities also responded to the death of Soleimani with a double attack on bases in Iraq with the presence of US forces. In this escalation of tensions, Tehran has also recognized the demolition by mistake of a Ukrainian plane with 176 people on board.
