A group of demonstrators blocked activities at an oil factory in southern Tunisia on Thursday. Protests have been going on for weeks against the economic crisis and failure to meet government obligations to the local population. .
Protesters have blocked El Kamur’s facilities in Tatauine province. Afterwards, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the military stationed there had withdrawn to avoid clashes.
The ministry has stressed that no one can threaten “national security” or “manufacturing sites” before adding that the situation is being dealt with legally, the Tunisian radio station Mosaique FM reports.
