Saudi crown prince, Mohamed bin Salman, has called on the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to congratulate him on the “historic” success of the military operation of US special forces that ended the life of the Islamic State leader, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, on October 27 in Syria, reported the official Saudi news agency SPA.
“His royal highness, Prince Mohamed bin Salman, crown prince, deputy prime minister and defense minister, has made a phone call to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to congratulate him on the success of the operation carried out by special forces of United States and that led to the death of the leader of the Daesh terrorist group, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, “said the Saudi agency.
In the telephone conversation, the Saudi crown prince stressed that the US military operation is driving “a new era” and is “a historic step in the war against terrorism, extremism and hatred.”
According to SPA, the US president highlighted the “fruitful and continuous cooperation” between the United States and Saudi Arabia in the fight against terrorism and its sources of financing.
On October 27, a US Delta special forces operation in Idlib province in northwestern Syria cornered Islamic State leader Abú Bakr al Baghdadi, who ended up detonating the explosive vest he wore when he ran out of escape.
