Judge Richard Marks QC told Lewis the attack on the petite woman was done with the “utmost callousness and barbarity” and was “wicked beyond belief”.

Ms Todos’ friends last saw her at about 8pm on Christmas Eve as she headed for a bus home after a shift at the World’s End pub in Camden.

CCTV footage of her was last captured at 8.33pm as she walked towards the entrance of Finsbury Park.

he was expected to meet the group at another friend’s home in Enfield later that night, where she was also meant to spend Christmas Day. But she never arrived.

Her friends posted messages on social media and distributed flyers to find her.

A group of friends searched Finsbury Park and found her body in the burnt out hut by an old cricket pavilion.

Prosecutor Crispin Aylett QC told the court: “Iuliana was struck over the head most likely with a bottle, she was also stabbed with a broken bottle in the neck, on her abdomen and on her wrists.

“Although there is no evidence that Iuliana was actually sexually assaulted the prosecution allege that this was a sexually motivated and sadistic attack.”

Lewis extracted her PIN number and later withdrew cash from her account as her body lay in the disused building.

On Christmas Day Lewis tried to lay a “false trail” by texting a contact to ask about the discovery of a woman’s body.

Detectives went to Lewis’ home on New Year’s Eve and found cable ties like those used on the victim, and a knife in the fridge.

They tracked down the HIV positive bisexual attacker at his on-off boyfriend’s Dalston flat.

The court heard that when he was arrested, he told them: “I did it.”

On his phone he had a pornographic film of a young woman being chased into an alleyway and then bound with cable ties.

Lewis, who was born in Monserrat and lived in north London, had previously been jailed for an earlier sex attack.

In 2005 he was jailed for two years for sexual assault and exposure on a bus and placed on the sex offenders register but failed to copmly with restrictions.

Ms Todos’ stepfather Costa Vasiliou, who travelled form his Cyprus home, paid an emotional tribute to his stepdaughter on Thursday.

“She was murdered in the most repelling and inhuman way, a disgrace to the human race,” he said.

“As parents, we have lost our beloved daughter.”
