The Portuguese government’s National Directorate of Health reported 497 new infections and five deaths from coronavirus this Saturday, recorded in the past 24 hours. This means that a total of 1,860 deaths and 63,310 cases have occurred since the start of the pandemic.
Of the 497 new cases, 243 correspond to the Lisbon and Tajo Valley region and 178 to the North region. Four deaths come from the first zone and the fifth from the second.
Additionally, the bulletin includes 250 newly recovered patients for a total of 43,894. So there are 17,556 active cases, 242 more than on Friday.
438 people were hospitalized, 34 more than on Friday, 59 of them in intensive care units, five more than the day before.
